Computer engineers are concerned with analyzing and solving computer oriented problems. In order to get into computer engineering, one needs to do 10+2 in science stream followed by Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in computer engineering.
Analytical skills: Computer engineers should have the ability to solve engineering and technical problems, create design systems, analyze and interpret technical data through creative and innovative thinking and so on.
Attention to detail: A slightest error can cause the whole system to fail and therefore it’s important to pay meticulous attention to details.
Communication skills: Computer engineers need to translate complex technical into plain English as they are required to communicate verbally to the non technical clients and other engineers. Therefore it’s important to have good written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge update: The field of engineering is developing rapidly and thus, it’s important to keep abreast of new research ideas and technological advancements in the field of computer engineering.
Creative and innovative thinking: A great engineer is one who is creative and can think of new innovative things and suggest possible solutions on existing problems.
Technical knowledge: It’s important to have vast technical knowledge as engineers have to understand a variety of computer programs and computer system.
Logical reasoning ability: It is necessary for a computer engineer to understand how complex things lead to specific problems and hence require logical ability to solve the issues.
Mathematical skills: Computer engineers need to be inclined towards mathematics as computer system majorly involves complex calculations of varying difficulty.
Ability to solve problems: They must be able to figure out from where the problems stem from and develop all possible solutions.
Excellent team player: Engineers are a part of large team working together and therefore must work well in team.
