5 responsibilities of Civil Engineers

Civil Engineers build cities. They build bridges, dams, airports and sewerage systems. 

Civil Engineering is a popular choice for students opting for Engineering after 10+2. As a Civil Engineer, you will have to think on your feet as solutions need to be found instantly. 

So what kind of work will you do as a Civil Engineer?

1. Conduct investigations & develop procedures 
- Study geological data to plan projects
- Conduct economic analyses and gauge the impact on the environment
- Make sure that soil and the site foundations are strong enough for the structure
- Use software to design hydraulic and transport systems that follow government systems

2. Technical analysis and report writing
- Analysis survey and field data for soil and other factors

3. Supervise a team, approve designs, calculate costs
- Manage members of the team, construction site 
- Inspect the site to make sure that safety procedures are being followed-
- Give advice regarding designs, modifications and repairs to management
- Provide estimates of how much the material and labour costs
- Calculate other requirements such as material stress or water flow specifications 

4. Prepare contract documents, review and evaluate tenders for projects
- Write and prepare reports on topics including deeds, environmental impact

5. Attend meetings with clients and team to come up with project requirements
