The feasibility of manpower as a resource in today’s corporate world is termed as human resources (HR).
Human Resources Management, or HRM as it is commonly referred to, is a popular specialization for MBA students.
We list some of the essential skills for HR Managers:
1. Good communication and organizational skills:
Rapport is built only when one has good communication and organizational skills. Thus, the first rule is to have effective communication skills.
2. Relationship-building and relationship-management skills among the employees:
HR should be creative in his/her own way of building healthy relationship among the subordinates as well as the clients. This can be achieved through workshops, game activities to create the basic interaction skills.
3. Teamwork and leadership skills:
HR should take a leadership role and understand the team dynamics and accordingly place the members in different teams.
4. Developing a sense of responsibility among the subordinates:
It is the duty of the HR to create the sense of responsibility about assignments and actions among the subordinates.
5. Organizing and prioritizing the workplace environment:
HR requires an orderly approach. Organized files, time management and interpersonal skills are the key aspects for a healthy workplace environment.
6. Making sound and timely decisions:
HR has to be constantly alert and non judgmental when it comes to decision making at the workplace.
7. Technically and tactfully efficient:
It’s equally important for a HR person to be aware of basic technical skills.
8. Train people to work in team:
HR can help the subordinates to understand the importance of working in team and how it can be achieved through group activities.
