It is a good time to go into careers in retail management with the government approving foreign direct investment in retail.
In Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), foreign assets are invested into the organizations of the domestic market excluding the investment in stock, benefiting the private funds from overseas into products or services. Benefits of FDI:
Partnership opportunity
Indian retailers will get lot of partnership opportunities from foreign brands which in turn will lead to higher profitability.
Knowledge
With the benefit of FDI, Indians will get qualitative information from international experts leading to profitable income.
Education
Retail management can become one of the most booming education fields as the employment requirement will keep increasing.
Agriculture industry
The biggest advantage would be for the farmers in terms of supplying to organized retailers by tying up long term contracts with the international brands.
Single brand
FDI in ‘Single brand’ retail implies that a retail store with foreign investment can only sell one brand.
Multiple brands
Opening up FDI in multi-brand retail means that global retailers can open stores offering a range of household items and grocery directly same as the “kirana” stores.
Through FDI, consumers will definitely have wider choice and better deals.
