Description

Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G) is one of India’s premier institutes in engineering and technology. It is the sixth IIT and was founded in 1994.

Located on the outskirts of Guwahati, the residential institute has a sprawling campus with spectacular views. The Academic Complex is 74,000 square meters and contains academic departments, labs and classrooms.

IIT-Guwahati has 11 departments ranging from Biotechnology to Design to Physics. Humanities and Social Sciences are also offered, but the focus is on Engineering. There are also three inter-disciplinary centres. IIT-Guwahati is known for a range for programs including B Tech, B Des, M A, M Tech and PhD programs.

The Central Library has over 1,17,000 titles including 2605 subscribed online journals and magazines.

Apart from academics, IIT-Guwahati offers a indoor sports stadium with badminton and squash courts. There is also a 50-metre, eight-lane swimming pool and flood-lit playing fields. There is a range of musical equipment in the gymkhana.

There are two banks with ATMs, a travel agency, a pre-primary school-cum-creche and a bus service to the city available on campus. There is also medical facilities.
