Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University was formally opened in October 1911. King George Medical University offers degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS, Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS)

The Central Library is well stocked and has has been nominated as resource library. KGMC Institute of Clinical Epidemiology is efficient and has all the modern facilities. The university campus is spread over an area of roughly 100,000 sq metres.

The Convention Centre has a floor area of 200,000 sq feet has 3 halls of 200, 400 and 1400 seating capacity, 2 banquet halls, 2 exhibition galleries, an open air theatre, a general library, an audiovisual library, rehearsal rooms, a foyer area below the dome and connecting corridors. All are fully air conditioned. There are 8 lifts, including a capsule lift from which historical buildings of Lucknow can be seen.
The center has state of the art audiovisual facilities The auditoria can be used for plays, music as well as films.
