The T.A. Pai Management Institute, (TAPMI) was established in the year 1980 as a realization to the vision of the late Shri T. A. Pai. The first batch of PGDM, the flagship programme of TAPMI was inducted in the year 1984. It is one of the first private institutions to gain approbation from AICTE.

In the past two decades, TAPMI has emerged as one of the top ranking institutes in India known for its strong academic credentials and reputation. It has been recognized well by established, reputed business and industrial houses in India for its Post Graduate Programme in Management.

The PGDM is also recognized as equivalent MBA the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and applauded for the quality of talent it has developed among the students.   

The PGDM-Healthcare at TAPMI is a result of 25 years of experience in the field of Management with the expertise from Manipal University, which is recognized for its excellence in health care education and practice.

The programme was designed the supervision of an advisory committee headed by Padma Vibhushan Dr. M S Valliathan, a renowned figure in medical field in India.

The PGDM-Healthcare has been introduced in response to the feedback received from recruiters and other stake holders of the Institute that addresses the need and relevance of high quality management programme to meet the skill requirement in fast growing health care sector.

The programme was approved by AICTE in August 2010.
