Description

The R.A. Podar College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai has had a long history, which commences with freedom struggle of India. The visionaries of that time realized that they should start an institution which would inculcate the indigenous values and have the thrust of social and cultural value system that are typical to the grand heritage of our country.

The institution first started the B Com Degree course in 1942 and the word Economics was added to the name of College. It became Ramniranjan Anandilal Podar College of Commerce and Economics. The College received permanent affiliation from the University of Mumbai on 17th August, 1950.


The assembly hall is a multipurpose hall where the college hosts all its leading events. Situated at about 30 feet from the entrance, it is a place of confluence of all students from both, junior and senior college during major college festivals.

The hall has a seating capacity of 500. The auditorium sports a semi circular stage for performing arts. The college gymkhana has played an important role to provide all the necessary equipments to all eager enthusiasts who want to test themselves on and off the field by participating in indoor and outdoor sporting activities.


The institution has a central computer laboratory with 50 computer and latest software, printing and internet facility. The library which started with an initial collection of 11,571 books has now grown up to a rich collection of 71000 books and 2254 bound volumes of important periodicals.

This a ok college with very high cut-offs. The facilities are not bad. The faculty is not bad. College campus is also not bad. It is affliated to Mumbai University. There is no compulsion for attendence. Students do not attend lectures.
