Jamia Hamdard University shall be introducing a course in rainwater harvesting. The board of studies at the university has said that the PG diploma shall start from January 2013.
According to experts, as the need for decentralized options like rainwater harvesting goes up, there will be a need for professionals who can provide the residents with what they want. The idea of beginning this course happened because of the university’s own problem of water crisis.
During the one year course, students shall be taught how to make different kinds of harvesting structures. They shall also be testing the rain and groundwater quality with laboratory facilities. Rs. 25,000 is the fee for the course.
On the other hand, Centre for Science and Environment(CSE) which already has a rainwater harvesting course, , has seen an increase in theamount of applicxations this year.
