Careers after Class 12: Chartered Accountancy

Chartered Accountancy is a popular option for students who have completed their Class 12.

What is it: Chartered Accountancy provides students with the framework to audit and provide financial recommendations to companies, banks, borrowers and others.

A student needs to professionally qualify as a Chartered Accountant by passing several examinations. Students who pass the final exam of chartered accountants can call themselves Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Eligibility: 10+2 pass students are eligible to take up the CPT which replaces the Professional Education (PE Course 1). It is held twice a year and is an objective type exam.

What you study: Chartered accountancy course trains students in accounting, auditing and taxation. It also trains students in handling accounts and finance related matters, dealing with money management, preparing, analyzing and auditing accounts along with providing financial advice.

Entrance Exams: Common Proficiency Test

Salary for freshers: Rs 2.4 to 3.36 lakh per annum as a fresher. Salary depends on the location of the job and company hiring.
