DU students on educational train journey

Delhi University (DU) students will experience a unique train tour to five destinations across the country. A special train, ‘Gyanodaya Express’ will take 1000 NSS and NCC girl students of DU for an educational journey.

The train journey will begin on July 8, 2012. This is the first batch of students going for Gyanodaya, a 12-day train journey.

The first stop will be at Ahmedabad where the students will visit Sabarmati Ashram, Akshardham Temple and Gujrat Vidyapeeth. After about 2 days in Ahmedabad the student will proceed to Mumbai, followed by Madgaon in Goa. The students will then go to Bangalore and visit Indian Space Research Organisation and Science Museum followed by a visit to Mysore. The final stop will be at Wardha/ Nagpur.

The students will have to attend an orientation session before the journey where they will be provided with study materials with instructions of what is expected during and after the journey. The students are required to study the food habits and other sociological aspects of people they see on the railway platforms and places they visit along their way and other aspects like geography, agriculture, language, literature and ethnicity of people of different regions that they visit.

Students are also expected to complete a project during the journey.
