Goa SSC results 2012 analysis

Goa SSC results 2012 declared on June 4 registered a decrease of pass percentage by 13 percent. This year about 73 percent students passed the examination as against 86.50 percent in 2011.

From 2012, the minimum marks for passing have been increased to 33 percent, 3 percent more than last year which resulted in the decrease in pass percentage.

The pattern was revised to conform to the national pattern.

In 2011, grading pattern declared a student to have passed a subject if he or she scored 30% in five subjects and 20% in the remaining subject. Now the student has to meet the minimum passing criteria in all six subjects to clear it.

Of the 8,188 boys that appeared for the exam, 5,753 passed while 5,090 girls cleared the exam from a total number of 7,423 girls.

Nine schools across the state scored cent percent results.

For the first time in 2012, 132 students from 11 rural schools in the state appeared with prevocational subjects like electronics, cooking, food processing and horticulture instead of maths, science or social science  for the Class X exam. The scheme was introduced to reduce drop-out rates in rural schools.

The last date to apply for verification of marks is July 3, 2012. Students are required to supply photocopies of answer-sheets for re-evaluation and verification of marks before or on June 13, 2012.
