Registrations for Google’s three-month Summer of Code have started. The program is open for all students in India who want to work on code open-source projects.
Selected students will be able to work with mentors in developing software which could result in a job.
Google’s Summer of Code has over 180 projects for 2012. Students need to apply to the project that they are interested in. Google suggests the proposal needs to be outstanding to interest the mentors.
Students in India need to remember that April 6 is the last date to submit a proposal on the project they are interested in. More details are available on the Summer of Code website.
Those who want more information on the Summer of Code can go online on April 2 when the company will hold a Google+ hangout where Chris DiBona, the Open Source programs manager, will take live questions.
Names of students whose proposals have been accepted will be on the Summer of Code site on April 23.
