Gujarat University unaware of vacant seats

Gujarat University (GU) was not aware of the number of seats lying vacant in commerce colleges even though the admission process for first year is almost over.
Many colleges have have finished their admissions, due to which students now have no choice but to take admission in self-financed colleges.
The university has not had any meetings of the committee that had been formed to look into the admission procedure of the first-year BCom courses.
GU had said that no student would be allowed admission without merit, in spite of this many colleges have allowed admissions without following these guidelines.
In the meantime, colleges who are looking for permission to change the reserved category seats into the open category would be given a nod.
Admission for the reseved category seats would be over by July 11.
