IIT-B: Team down to check quake preparedness

A team from IIT- Bombay is on a mission nowadays. The team from the Indian Institute of Technology- Bombay has gone to Goa to conduct a seismic vulnerability assessment.
The team has inspected various buildings which include:
South Goa collectorate is a District Administration Office. It is at this District Administration Office that the policies of the Government are translated into practice and the problems of local people are studied and communicated to the State Government.
Margao Municipal Council (MMC) buildings will also be inspected to check if the structure is sound enough in case of an earthquake and what impact will the building have in such a situation.
The exercise is part of a national level project undertaken by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
IIT-Bombay is the main agency for the exercise. IIT-Bombay is also conducting the assessment in other states which include Maharashtra and Karnataka.
