Students from IIT-Bombay are leading a project that is aimed at finding out the country’s energy needs, closing the demand-supply gap and devising technologies would be required to achieve this.
The project is part of a larger plan in which the Technology and Information Forecasting Assessment Council (TIFAC) of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) is coming up with a technological vision for the country. Health, agriculture and energy are part of the 11 areas included under this.
Specialised committees under each theme wil; come up with a report to help the government in policy making. There is also a student initiative for the energy sector, which has been approved by the DST. The student body will be giving in their report by October 2012.
Students from all over the country can be part of this project.
