IIT-Bombay faculty members, along with the faculties of other IITs, stated that JEE cannot give too much importance to Class 12 marks.
India has around 40 different examination boards. Each board has its own exam pattern and assessment techniques.
Students across the country are not on the same page when they pass their Class 12 examination. So it will not be fair to compare and judge them on based on Class 12 marks.
Some faculty members suggested that Class 12 marks can be used to shortlist students at the initial level.
Members of faculty asserted that the new exam pattern of the JEE may give unfair advantage to some students.
A committee appointed by the central government visited IIT-Bombay on April 9 and had to face sharp questions from the faculty of the institute.
They also suggested that there should be an all-India screening exam followed by an advanced exam designed specifically to enter into the IITs.
Faculty members also mentioned that IIT-JEE is looked upon as a fair and competitive exam. If it has to change it should change for the better.

Comments:
The problem lies in the sharp questions asked by faculty of the institute. A single step taken will open many doors where we can seek to solve the problem gradually and that too will ensure fair and competitive exam. This is not a mathematics problem or physics problems where it can be solved exactly.
