IIT-Bombay: Students unveil electric racing car

Students of the IIT-Bombay racing team unveiled their first electric racing car, EVo1.
About 60 students from mechanical, electrical and energy science departments of Indian Institute of Technology designed the electric racing car .
The car will be tested in the Formula Students competition at the Silverstone Circuit, United Kingdom (UK) in July.
The specially designed car EVo1 by the IIT students has high-efficiency direct current motors. The two motors are coupled with each other mechanically and used. The car will operate on electric power with the help of lithium polymer batteries.
The race car has no tailpipe emissions, thus leaving negligible carbon footprint and environmental impact.
The race car was made on a budget of Rs 15 lakhs.
