IIT-JEE 2013: Autonomy of IIT's to remain intact

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh assured IIT faculty federation on Friday that the autonomy of the IIT’s shall remain intact. The IIT’s have been opposing the proposed common entrance test.

The federation is of the opinion that the common entrance test which has been proposed for admission of the undergraduate programme of the IIT’s would ultimately undermine the autonomous status of the IIT’s.

During the course of the meeting, the federation voiced their concerns regarding autonomy and said that the decision that had been taken by the IIT council regarding holding the one nation one examination ought to be ratified by all the IIT senates.

Giving weightage to board marks after normalization in order to prepare the merit list was another issue that was raised by the board.
