After the IIT’s opposing Human Resource Development (HRD ministry) Kapil Sibal move to conduct the Common Entrance Test, Kapil Sibal will meet the representatives of the deemed universities today .
The directors of Indian Institute of Technology(IITs) have come up with a proposal to get the top 20-30 students based on percentile ranking of respective boards for preparing the merit list.
According to reports, the percentile criterion replacing the proposed format of giving weightage to board results were planned at the Joint Admission Board meeting which comprised IIT directors.
IIT Delhi rejected the common entrance test and has decided to hold its entrance exam from 2013. IIT Delhi will also conduct its entrance exam in association with IIT Kanpur.
IIT Delhi said after its decision, that the exams would be conducted in association with IIT Kanpur, which has also rejected the government's single entrance test.
