IIT-JEE 2013: IIT Bombay accepts CET

Indian Institute of Technology- Bombay (IIT-B) has accepted the common entrance test (CET) on certain conditions. The test will be based on the new format agreed at the senate meeting in June.

According to the new format IIT- B has decided to restrict the figure to about 50,000 students instead of 1.50 lakh to appear for the entrance test.

IIT-Madras was the first to accept the Common entrance test. IIT- Kanpur is also expected to take a final decision after examining the IIT council resolution.

The controversy regarding the common entrance test was finally resolved after the JAB (Joint Board of Admission) intervened with a compromise formula in June. After all the IITs come to a decision the Joint admission Board will give its final verdict.

Under the new format students having top 20 percentile of their respective boards will be admitted . The new format will have one main paper (30 percent) and one advanced paper (30 percent) for each subject.

Here are three facts about IIT JEE for students:

IIT JEE (main)

Filter 1.5 lakh candidates

IIT JEE (advanced)

Held 4-5 weeks after IIT JEE main
