IIT-JEE 2013: IIT Delhi to decide its agenda
Editorial Team549|0Last Updated:02:46 pm, June 21, 2012IIT Delhi senates will conduct a meeting on June 21 to decide its response to the HRD ministry's move to have a common entrance test for engineering admissions.
Following the decision of IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi had indicated that it might conduct a separate entrance test if the common test is introduced by the government.
The meeting of the IIT Delhi senate comes even as HRD Minister Kapil Sibal restated that there was no going back from holding the single entrance test from next year.
The HRD ministry will soon write to the IIT joint admission board to prepare the protocols for conducting the proposed common entrance test for admission to engineering.
IIT faculty and the alumni have been continuously opposing the move as the proposed common entrance test is said to undermine the autonomy enjoyed by the IITs.
According to sources, the IIT Bombay, IIT Madras and IIT Kharagpur senates will also hold internal meetings about the proposed exam and possible alternatives.
