IIT-JEE 2013: IIT directors to meet Kapil Sibal today

Kapil Sibal will meet the IIT directors today to resolve the common entrance exam row.  The proposal to have a common entrance has been resisted by IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur. IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur have decided to conduct their own exam.

Kapil Sibal will head the meeting of the IIT Council which consists of IIT directors and heads of other educational bodies. The IIT Council is also likely to consider the feasibility of holding common counselling for all Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs)

The directors of Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) had earlier come up with a proposal to get the top 20-30 students based on percentile ranking of respective boards for preparing the merit list.

According to reports, the percentile criterion replacing the proposed format of giving weightage to board results was planned at the Joint Admission Board meeting which was attended by the IIT directors.
