IIT-Kanpur: NICEE conducts quiz on earthquake tips
Editorial Team154|1Last Updated:09:34 am, August 30, 2012National Information Centre of Earthquake Engineering (NICEE) at IIT Kanpur has conducted an inter-school quiz competition on Earthquake tips.
The first preliminary round of National Information Centre of Earthquake Engineering (NICEE) was conducted on August 29.
The final round of the quiz will be conducted on 26 January 2013 at Outreach Auditorium, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.
According to the NICEE officials the aim of the quiz is to spread the message of seismic safety.
The preliminary rounds of the quiz will also be conducted in various cities which include Lucknow, Nagpur, Ambala, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jabalpur, Delhi, Shimla and Ludhiana.

The National Information Centre of Earthquake Engineering hosted at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur is intended to collect and maintain information resources on Earthquake Engineering and make these available to the interested professionals, researchers, academicians and others with a view to mitigate earthquake disasters in India.

Pioneer institutes like IIT Kanpur has showed the path through which every other institute has to travel. If IITs and IIMs take these initiatives, their images are boosted not only in India but also in other countries as well. Overall the Indian institutes are given higher status due to these initiatives.
