After professors opposing the revised IIT-JEE, it’s the turn of the students of IIT-Kanpur to object to the new exam pattern of IIT-JEE.
The students raised the objections by stating that they would not like the HRD ministry to interfere into the process of JEE. The students believe that if the pattern of selection is changed then the standard of JEE and the IITs will fall.
The students also said that due to different boards in the country, measuring the performance of the students based on class XII results is not possible on the basis of any statistical formula.
IIT faculty and alumni are unhappy with the new format of HRD Minister Kapil Sibal’s Joint Entrance Exam stating that students will be forced to depend on coaching centres because of the difference in standards in Class 12 board exams.
Eligibility for engineering institutes:
Centrally funded institutes - Class XII: 40 percent, Main Test: 30 percent, Advanced Test: 30 percent
IITs - Class XII: 50 percent, Main Test: 50 percent, top 50,000 students will be eligible for Advanced Test
