The IITs have revealed the minimum marks to qualify and minimum aggregate marks to qualify for the all India rank.
This is the first time since the inception of IITJEE that the institutes have declared these marks.
The marks have been classified differently for different categories of students.
An open category student has to get 10 percent in each subject. An OBC student has to score nine percent and a Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Physically Disabled (PD) student needs to score a minimum of five percent marks.
To be eligible for the all India rank, in addition to these minimum marks, open category students need to score 35 percent, OBC students need to score 31.5% and SC, ST and PD students have to score 17.5 percent.
The institutions and its faculty believes that this will lessen the stress on students as they will have an idea of what there score will be well before the results are out.
