There are courses one can do to gain technical knowledge regarding the subject. To begin with one can start working as an assistant to an established photographer.

Photojournalism
This is a part of journalism where the photos you take would tell news stories. You could take photos regarding a war/violence taking place in the country. On the other hand you could be a part of feature photography which means taking photos for a specific event. One can be a freelancer in this field or be working for a news agency.
Fashion or advertising agency
If you are attracted to the glamour world like a bee to honey, this one is for you. You would photograph models and your work would be used for fashion magazines and advertising houses among others.
Nature photography
A travel magazine is good choice if you are interested in nature and wildlife photography.
Event photography
Event photographers are those who are paid to take photos at weddings and other functions.
Still photography and travel photography are the two other avenues which you can opt for depending upon your strengths and interests.
Salary:
Initially one would not earn much in this field, and an assistant to a senior photographer would earn between Rs. 3,000- 6,500 per month. On the other hand one could start off with freelancing and later become a full time professional, earning between Rs. 25,000 and 40,000 per month.
Supposing one is self employed, a person can earn up to Rs. 50,000 per day with regards to the assignments you undertake. The salary that you get depends upon the amount of experience that you have and the quality of work that you produce.
