First-year Bachelor of Mass Media students of Wilson College, Mumbai created history by performing 'The Sound of Music,' a 1959 musical, live on February 23, 2012.
It was the first such act by a college group which was performed live for over two hours.
The act was complete with live musicians playing the guitar, drums and saxophone. They were accompanied by vocalists.
The Sound of Music is the story of a woman who leaves an Austrian convent to become a governess to the children of a Naval officer widower. She befriends the seven children, and falls in love with the naval officer.
Some distinguished guests who attended the event include Dolly Thakore and Raell Padamsee.
Raell Padamsee who had intended to attend the event for not more than 10 minutes was so heavily impressed by all the performers that she stayed back until the end of the act.
Stand-out performer of the evening was Nancy George who played the role of the governess delightfully.
The idea of the performance was initiated by Riya Kartha, a faculty member at Wilson College.
