Try for SNDT universities...They have part time PhD's . You can earn as well as learn at the same time.

There are also self funding (SF) PhD's in IIT's. They have some minimum requirements like 55% marks in M SC or 1-2 years of work experience.

In India you can try IIT's IISC Bangalore. If you want fellowship then you need to get JRF.

See to it that you get a first class in Masters as well as Bachelors degree. Go outside India. Good luck!

Ya Neha. You are right. In fact they also need some other documents like Statement of Purpose (SOP), recommendation letters, bank documents and so on. Good luck!!

Do some paper presentations on microbiology. Some universities also ask research proposal before applying for PhD.

I totally agree with Praneet. You can try for the countries like U.S. or Canada. But it would be advisable to take some work experience or research work in microbiology before applying for PhD.

UK universities require the TOEFL/IELTS. You can go through the respective university website for minimum score requirement for GRE/TOEFL/IELTS and other information regarding the course. The scope is much better outside India. Good luck!
