I would recommend you to take SAT exam as early as possible. You also need to keep other documents ready like transcripts, Statement of Purpose. bank documents etc. Get a list of universities and make sure of the expenses including the tuition fees, residential costs etc. You need to plan as it's of a huge investment. It totally depends upon the country and the university you apply. Salary will depends upon the economic factor in year you pass out. If you wish to apply for undergraduate course then you need to give SAT. I would also like to recommend you to take an entrance for undergraduate course at IIT to keep it as a safe option.
